Central to any thriving community is accessible, high-quality health care, yet many in our state lack this essential element. By 2023, we will expand our medical school class size to 200 to address the health care shortage in Louisiana. We have big aspirations, and our success will affect all Louisianans. We must attract and retain the best faculty physicians and health professionals to provide specialized care to our community and educate the next generation of health care professionals.
Gifts will be matched with state dollars to create a new educational home for student doctors and other health care professionals, such as physician assistants and physical therapists.
We are limited by the constraints of a library built in and designed for a different era. Gifts will retrofit and remodel our library to meet the needs of 21st-century medical education.
Relieving the burden of student debt and expanding access to medical education is crucial to afford our graduates the freedom to practice medicine where it is needed most.
We are bringing together our scientists and clinicians to lead the way in neuroscience discoveries. Gifts will help to treat pressing neuroscience conditions and lead to new discoveries.
Private support for our faculty clinics will provide the start-up capital needed to purchase new technology and recruit faculty for expansion of physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to meet increasing demand.
We must provide resources that top-level faculty physicians require, ensuring that Louisianans have access to specialized care that allows them to stay in or near home for even the most complex, specialized care.
