We are a central hub for experiencing art and cultures of the world, and a dynamic educational resource for LSU, our artists, and our community.Give Now
We contribute to a vibrant campus community by working with LSU students and faculty from across the disciplines to investigate artistic expression, cultivate a global perspective, and collaborate on cutting-edge projects. A jewel of downtown Baton Rouge, we serve a diverse, ever-expanding audience with our robust roster of programs and events. We make arts education accessible, hands-on, and inspiring while boosting the economic vitality of our region and cultivating future leaders in the arts.
The museum visitor’s experience comes full circle when they create art in the same place that they view it. Gifts will transform a vacant space in the Shaw Center into a multipurpose arts classroom.
On the third floor of the Shaw Center, we will create a multi-purpose room for artists and museum professionals to present artistic and cultural experiences, and refurbish our current conference room.
An exhibitions endowment will ensure the continued quality of the museum’s homegrown exhibitions and will enable us to secure blockbuster exhibitions, featuring famous local and global artists.
Many LSU graduate students aspire to careers in arts leadership, management, or education. A graduate assistantship with the LSU MOA provides invaluable opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience and grow their professional network.
Once transformed, the terrace will create more dynamic opportunities for sculptors and performance artists to present their work, for faculty and students to collaborate with community arts organizations, and for the LSU MOA to grow events and services.
Gifts to support will enable the museum to acquire new lighting fixtures and improve control systems in the galleries as needed, shielding exhibitions from damage caused by infrared head generated by the current lighting system.
Gifts will support diversity and inclusion in exhibitions, collections, programming, assistantships, and other areas, impacting the community and professional practices of the LSU MOA and museum field.
With over 6,500 pieces in its collection, there is a consistent, critical need for specialized care. Additionally, the museum seeks to acquire works that will supplement certain areas of its collection.
A functional space in which to plan for and prepare exhibitions, educational programming, and outreach events is critical to fulfilling the museum’s mission and attracting the highest caliber arts professionals.
Gifts will support collaborative and engaged projects with the School of Art and the community, working with exhibiting artists/teachers to produce these residencies with artists who will also contribute by sharing their art.
