With financial support, we can elevate student academic performance by providing spaces, collections, and services that better match how modern professors teach, and modern students learn. We are the largest employer of students on campus. Funding will offer graduate students the opportunity to learn the necessary skills needed for a career in library and museum management.
This program will enable LSU Libraries to grant research funding to deserving student-scholars, supporting new research, increased collection use and access, and new knowledge upon which scholars can build.
The Louisiana Digital Library is accessible to scholars worldwide. Our mobile digitization team will aid partner institutions in preserving and digitizing materials, directly impacting Louisiana historical and cultural preservation.
Funding will allow teachers to continue their education in the subjects they teach, using primary source materials in Special Collections to deepen their understanding and design meaningful curriculum.
Strengthening the travel grant program will enable LSU Libraries to support the work of graduate level, post-doctoral, faculty, and independent researchers who utilize our rich holdings.
To foster the educational use of collection items and greater access to this iconic university library, we aim to convert the Hill Memorial Library staff workspace into the Special Collections Student Reading Room.
A Special Collections library, much like other museums and cultural repositories, relies on its gallery space or exhibit hall as its primary teaching tool. An investment in this space will directly support public learning.
Gifts will enable us to recruit the very best librarians in the fields of special collections, rare books, digital scholarship, STEM, and diversity, and provide them with opportunities that will enhance their effectiveness as educators.
Gifts will enable Libraries to strengthen its collection by acquiring new material in specific fields of study, improve student preparedness, and ease students’ financial burden through free access to e-textbooks.
