LSU’s success is directly tied to ours: every LSU student, regardless of major, learns in our classrooms.Give Now
The beating heart of a great university is found within the liberal arts. Our faculty introduce the core critical thinking and vital communication skills that set LSU graduates apart from their peers. Our expertise spans everything from health care mapping to Louisiana’s rich French heritage, and from military science to Shakespeare. Here, researchers discover long-lost human ancestors, work to strengthen the resilience of our coastline, and create therapies to improve lives. Our graduates move seamlessly from employees to leaders in every industry.
Gifts to support HSS students will leverage need- and merit-based scholarships to close the financial gap for those who could not otherwise afford to pursue or complete an HSS degree. Philanthropic support for scholarships will also ensure that, once students are enrolled, they can concentrate all their efforts on achieving academically and making the most of their college experience, rather than on how they will afford the cost of attendance.
Gifts to support HSS faculty will fund innovative programs like the Freshman Success Seminar, which pairs first-year students with faculty mentors, and make it possible for faculty to enhance their laboratories and conduct primary research internationally. Philanthropic support also ensures that all students are fully engaged in hands-on research and learning, guided and encouraged by equally passionate faculty who are truly invested in helping them meet—or exceed—their goals.
Gifts to sharpen our students’ competitive edges will cultivate versatility alongside excellence so we can deliver a 21st-century education that combines interdisciplinary coursework, faculty mentoring, experiential learning activities, and opportunities for students to add specialized credentials to their résumés. Philanthropic support will also expand access to study abroad experiences that broaden students’ worldviews and professional development activities like one-on-one career coaching. With the capacity to pivot among multiple areas of expertise, offer creative solutions, and inspire positive change, our graduates can not only achieve professionally, but become visionary leaders in their fields.
Gifts to Fund for the Future will provide the unrestricted resources that make it possible to do more than keep pace with peer institutions: We will set the curve. With flexible funding, we will enhance life-changing experiences like the HSS proactive advising program, Geaux Pre-Law Week, and study abroad. Philanthropic support will also bolster recruitment and retention efforts focused on attracting and retaining outstanding students and faculty while serving the unique needs of first-generation college students—one in five HSS students is the first in their family to attend college. Most importantly, when any member of our community needs help or assistance, we will be able to step in without delay.
